Just when things started to get back to near normal around here with Susan at least able to get around with a walker, Cheryl got pains that doubled her over last night and I took her to the emergency room at midnight. After several tests they have decided she has a bowel obstruction and they admitted her at 4 AM this morning. The plan now is to do a colonoscopy tomorrow and, if possible remove whatever is causing the blockage without doing surgery. We need prayers and cards for her now. Will let you know how things go. She's in Merecy Hospital in Monroe on the second floor, room 241 and the phone # 734-240-4602. Cards and prayers can also be sent to:

Just got a chance to sit down so they did not do the scope today since they are having trouble getting things cleaned out. They doubled her dose of junk to drink from 2 liters last night to 4 tonight. I am not going to help her drink that stuff it's terrible even with flavoring. The plan is to go for it tomorrow at 4:30 PM. So between Susan and her I'll be busy. She is feeling a little better and the cramps have eased some what. We're praying all goes well tomorrow and they can get thinks cleaned out.

They finally tonight got her down for the scope. She has a small mass in her abdomen that the doctor wants to remove in the next 48 hours. We'll be meeting with the doctors in the morning and will give you a better update when we know more. So from what I understand as of tonight they want to do surgery in the next day or two. I want to thank MaryLou, Carol, and Gloria Lynn for calling Cheryl, they have made her feel better.

After a couple of days of confusion, they have done the scope, biopisy (results not back yet) and lower GI series. She has a mass blocking 90% of a foot long section of her intestine. She could possibly have surgery as early as tomorrow but we don't expect anything till at least Monday. She sure has enjoyed the calls from you. Please keep the prayers and cards coming for her. Her phone number is 734-240-4602.

Doctor's are planning on doing Cheryl's surgery on Tuesday, Nov 2 to remove approximately a 1 foot section of intestine that has about 90% blockage from a mass. Biopisy results have not came back in yet so cancer is not ruled out, so please keep the prayers coming in. After surgery she will need to in the hospital for approximately 1 week barring any problems from surgery. Still on a liquid diet so has not to create another blockage and pospone surgery. Thanks for the calls to Cheryl as they are easing her mind quite a bit. Thanks again

Evening Everyone, Cheryl's surgery was scheduled for 10 AM but they did not get started till 11:15 AM. At 1 PM still going so had to leave the hospital to take T.C. and Susan over for T.C. doctors appointment. Dropped them off next to hospital and back to waiting room. RN's were great. At 2 PM had to go back to pick up Susan and T.C. and was told that they were just closing the surgery and would be at least another hour. So took T.C, and Susan by to pick up their medications and home (T.C. has touch of flu). Back to hospital at 3 PM just in time to talk with Cheryl's worn out surgeon. She had to remove approx. 2 feet of her bowels and cancer was present. She also had to take several bioseys of the surrounding area so they can check for the spread of any cancer and will not know if chemo is need until Friday when those biopsies come back.
She is in the ICU for next 48 hours since the surgery was so long and extensive as a precaution. I did talk to her for a little bit, but she was in a lot of pain. Talked with her nurse and we decided she needs her rest tonight and left for home. On the only good note T.C. is back to normal tonight. The phone number listed above is no good any more since most likely they will put her in a different room when they move her from ICU. Need your prayers and well wishes, and will keep this site updated as more information becomes available.

After a day of ups and downs at 10:15 PM November 10, Cheryl was released from the hospital. With God's help she is home to recover for the next few weeks. Then with his healing hands the next six months will rid her of the of the cancer. I feel a great weight lifted this evening and inter-peace with the whole family home tonight. Your cards, calls, visits, and prayers have got us over the many hurdles the last two months.
Cheryl and Susan both will take months to fully recover but with prayers and God's healing hands it will happen.
Thanks all of you,
Joe

Cheryl is healing from the surgery. We were to the Chemo doctor today. She wants to start in two weeks. Cheryl's surgeon will put a port in on Dec 11 with treatment to start the following week and then two weeks apart for the next six months. This will pretty much keep us home for the Winter and most of Spring. Each treatment is 3 days long with plenty of side effects.

Cheryl had the newest style port put in today. Took longer for the prep and recovery then the surgery. No stitches required any more. Appointment Monday with the Chemo Nurse that will be working with her, then Tuesday another colon check and most likely Chemo before Christmas.

Evening Everyone,
Been getting alot of questions on Cheryl. We spent 3 hours Monday morning while they give her the first of three drugs. The treatment is know as FLO FOX. The third drug is give over two days by a pump that's in a pack she carries around. So far the only side effect started last night when she got real tired. Today she has spent most of the day relaxing. Only 11 more treatments to go.

Cheryl is 1/4 way threw Chemo now and this one really knock her down. She had almost all the side effects this week so far. After a visit to get this series over this morning, she has slept almost all day. Not a happy camper today.

Evening Everone,
Cheryl got a good update from the doctor on Friday, but today when she went in for her forth Chemo treatment the blood test came back with too low of a white count, so they had to cancel this treatment till next week. She has to do injections for 5 days. She was not very happy about having to extend the treatment another week. Even with her treatment she has been able to send out almost 400 door prize letters. We have recieved about a dozen goody bag and door prize items in so far.

We'll be at Camping World in Belleville this weekend for Good Sam Days. Bill and Donna were invited to be with Willy and Nancy at the Tampa Store. They did say it was cold down in Florida, but we know what cold is up here. Cheryl has completed # 5 Chemo, still real tired, but she has a lot of gray in her hair now and it's still all there. She does get into some real grumpy moods, but I think any of us would going threw these treatments. The off week she has 5 shots for her white count and next week she starts iron infusion for 5 weeks every Thursday.

Number 10 down and 2 more to go. The Chemo has slowed her down and have to keep reminding her to eat, even if it has no taste. She has been working on the program, ordering patches, ordered stage decorations, logging in door prizes, working with Liz over the phone, and getting forget full at times. We plan on going up to Camping World in Belleville May 20-23 for our Staff Meeting and help out with grill fest on Friday and Saturday. So those of us at the meeting have to make sure she does eat regularly and she will be taking naps from time to time. Then treatment 11 on Monday May 24 - Wednesday May 26 when we leave for IN Samboree. She says there is no way she'll miss these two weekends. They are the start of better times that she loves to do.

Morning Everyone,
We have been on the run the last couple of weeks with the Cancer Doctor ordering several tests, scans, and x-rays for Cheryl. Her cancer doctor has given her the word that all test show the cancer is gone. They now have to get her blood back to normal over the next month since the Chemo has it out of whack. They have her on a high vitamin regiment now and if it doesn't work the they will have to do a bone marrow implant the end of next month. She will be having quarterly tests for the next couple of years which she says is nothing compared to the Chemo she went threw. We again want to thank all of you who have support her over most of the last year.
Joe
